In addition to making GIF stickers I also make GIFs for posting on social media, the main difference being that these posts will have a background whereas the stickers have a transparent background.
Podcast art is almost always viewed as a small square on a small screen. Simple designs with clear text or lettering is what will make you stand out in the directory.
This is a project I did for my own podcast, Creative on the Side. Originally I was going to call it coffee break creative, but that title just didn’t get the point across as clearly as I wanted.
After creating the main art, I wanted to do something special for my first three guests so I created a special edition cover for their episodes to use when I launch and promote the episodes on Instagram.
There isn’t much that makes me happier than making my illustrations dance. I love making things that people enjoy using, and seeing my GIF stickers being used in the wild on Instagram Stories has been delightful.
You can find my whole collection of GIF stickers by searching jesscoutureart when you search for GIFs to use on Instagram Stories, or you can go to my page on Giphy.
The inspiration for this piece started with the repeating pattern idea. I was simply playing with a new set of Procreate brushes, making marks to see what each brush could do.
I ended up with a few icons that represented how I was feeling creatively. A little stormy but optimistic that it would turn around, because it always does.
I added the lettering and the phrase that I’ve taken on as my new motto. I hope that it gives people permission to be a beginner at something and stops them from holding themselves back because they don’t feel good enough.
This piece was inspired simply by the fact that I wanted to paint someone with blue hair. The rest of the details soon followed and resulted in this piece, which to this day remains one of my favourites.
Illustrated profile pictures work well for social media profiles because they are bright and clear and are eye-catching at a really small size.
