Podcast update week 4: Podcast cover art and booking guests

Welcome back to another weekly podcast update. Have I already been at this for a month?! Wow…

I’m not going to lie, I didn’t do a crazy amount of work this week on the podcast. I sort of hit a bit of a fear wall. The two main things I had on y to-do list were to edit the episode I recorded with Dee Parhar, and to start sending out invitations to guests. Two pretty major things. Editing is huge because I’ve never edited audio before, and Dee and I talked a LOT, and I know there is a lot I need to cut. And sending out invites is huge because it opens myself up to rejection, and rejection is obviously scary.

So I procrastinated and worked on something that I won’t need for a while, the show’s cover art.

I’m not a graphic designer, but I think my illustration skills work pretty well here, and I think it looks good even when seen really small on a phone screen.

I did eventually get around to sending out some emails, however I took the easy way out by sending invites to people who have already expressed interest in participating.

I also announced the launch date on Instagram. Mark your calendars for May 1, 2019! That’s less than two months away. I’m not sweating, you’re sweating!

My tasks for next week:

  • Get over my fear and edit the Dee episode, dammit!

  • Book interviews with the people I’ve emailed

  • Once those are booked, send out more emails

I feel like I’m at a bit of a dull point in the process in terms of momentum and excitement. I’ve sort of gotten everything done that I can really talk about, and now I’m mostly just reaching out to people and recording episodes.

In a way that’s kind of a good thing becaaaaaause…. this isn't the only podcast I’m trying to launch. Dee and I had such a great time recording together that she and I are launching a podcast together as well, but for that one we’re also creating a brand to go with it, whereas my show will be part of my established….brand, if you can call it that. Because of that, I don’t have to do to much for my show, but can dedicate more time to working with Dee. I’ll have more information on that show closer to when it launches. ;)

Until next week!
